Workshop III

Third International Workshop on “Designing community-based adaptation initiatives”.

It has been organized in Dar es Salaam to present and discuss the employed methodology and achieved results of the activities under WP3. In particular, the main objectives, pursued during the workshop have been:

  • Evaluation of the design methodology in light of the results attained by participants in designing adaptation initiatives;
  • to provide an opportunity for information sharing and exchange of ideas among researchers, and to stimulate initiatives for international networking.

Ardhi University hosted the event with involvement of Sapienza University in its organization.

Participation in the workshop will be restricted to invited researchers, including: seniors and juniors from universities in each partner country (Tanzania and Italy), seniors from EU universities and from EAC/SADC universities. The programme of the Workshop included lessons by prof. S. Macchi, Prof. G. Sappa, phD G. Faldi and phD Liana Ricci.

The workshop programme included a one day indoor session and a one day outdoor field session. A background paper jointly prepared by the partners guided the indoor session, while the filed session provided the participants with the opportunity to meet representatives of municipal staff and community based organizations involved in the design exercise.

Workshop final report and proceedings have been produced and made available for dissemination.
